During a couple years of downtime, I embraced a a meaningful idea:
If it’s not a YES, it’s a no. This helped with big and small decisions, so when my daughter and others suggested a move to Portland Oregon (after 45 years in the islands), it was a “YES!”
I have embraced this lovely town (I love walking towns), selling my car to only use public transportation (streetcar, bus, Uber, etc), joined the Portland Art Museum (a treasure), explored the Japanese and Chinese gardens, and more. The Gorge pass ($40 for a year) took me (and my youngest) along the Colombia River to waterfalls, small towns, and Hood River for fun time together. I enjoyed wine-tasting with my daughter and grandsons, Thanksgiving with them…and my niece, her hubby and 2 girls. My brother and wife took me to dinner on a Portland visit, then we joined another niece and her soon-to-be husband at one of this city’s fabulous independent coffee shops.
Within 3 blocks walk I have groceries, wonderful restaurants, massage, acupuncturist, PO, Dr, dentist, gym, pot shop, 3 parks…and 4 seasons. I love it!
This holiday and throughout 2023 I hope you embrace changes…and say YES to new ideas. With aloha.
